If, Bwana<\/strong> was begun on New Year’s Day 1984 by Al Margolis, who was an activist in the 1980s American cassette underground through his cassette label Sound of Pig Music. He co-founded experimental music label Pogus Productions, which he continues to run. EMERGE bildet zusammen mit MARTAVICTOR (Live-Kalligrafie), Al Margolis (Elektronik) und szmt (Elektronik) das Quartett Phonographia<\/strong>. MARTAVICTOR arbeitet in ihrer visuellen Kunst intensiv mit Schrift, sowohl in herk\u00f6mmlicher Form von Tinte auf Papier, als auch digital verfremdet. Beides bietet ein unersch\u00f6pfliches Experimentierfeld, um unterschiedliche Grade der Verfremdung und Zerst\u00f6rung von Schriftbildern auszuloten. Schrift dient hier nicht mehr prim\u00e4r der direkten Vermittlung von Sprache, sondern spricht f\u00fcr sich selbst als eigenst\u00e4ndige Kunstform. Al Margolis, szmt und EMERGE geben ihr eine weitere Ebene, indem sie aufgenommene oder mit Kontaktmikrofonen live eingefangene bearbeitete Schreibger\u00e4usche in Kl\u00e4nge \u00fcbersetzen. Die live entstehende Kalligrafie dient ihnen dabei als Partitur, umgekehrt reagiert MARTAVICTOR beim Schreiben auch auf die Kl\u00e4nge. Die Kalligrafie wird live abgefilmt und auf eine Leinwand projiziert. So entsteht eine R\u00fcckkopplung zwischen verschiedenen Medien.

L’MERGE 40<\/strong> – EMERGE meets LDX#40 in the videodrome.
\nEMERGE is inspired by the minimalist traditions of experimentalism and non-academic noise music, focusing on generating sound structures intended to make atmospheres emerge that are open to each listener\u2019s own interpretation. The choice of sound sources used is usually very limited. In most cases only rudiments of the original sounds are recognizable due to various treatments. EMERGE also uses and recycles raw material from a variety of artists\/musicians.
\n<\/span><\/span>LDX#40<\/strong> is a multidimensional audiovisual project and part of the Xerox Exotique team.
