EXCHAMPION is a rocker in an electronic world. Fighting through a boxing ring of drums and electronics, memories of past glories drive him to push toward future wins. Münster-based drummer Benjamin Kövener commands a sound defined by an athlete’s core virtues: fluid movement, precision, unwavering flow, and relentless energy. Following the credo “The action is the juice”, EXCHAMPION keeps developing his footwork while shifting the rhythms from hypnotic to euphoric. Swift combinations of his uptempo tracks take turns with gently playing defense in sonic experimentation.
Musically coming of age in late-’90s midwestern Germany, he recognized a visceral link between sound and physical action—wild, unhinged punk and metal performances on one side, ecstatic club dance floors on the other.
Seeking the thrill of physical exhaustion and the challenge of surpassing oneself inspired the stage name EXCHAMPION—one who, even after victory, refuses to take off the gloves, embracing movement as his constant. Determined to perform. Always ready to go another round, create another moment, land another punch, take another hit.
While thriving on the philosophy of Bruce Lee, Mickey Rourke’s The Wrestler, and the fictional Rocky Balboa, EXCHAMPION draws musical inspiration from Battles, Kraftwerk, Hudson Mohawke, and Steve Reich. Accompanied by his drums and electronics—the key players of rock and electronic music—each training session forges new sequences, distinctive step patterns, and new highs of focus.

Primaboy: Die drei Blutsbrüder aus der Wetterau machen sich an die Arbeit; diese Bruderschaft hat ihren Ursprung in einer seltsamen, fremden Welt. Unbeeindruckt von vorübergehenden Trends und Mode, jeder noch so schillernden Verführung widerstehend, ziehen sich Primaboy von allem und jedem zurück, um an der Konstruktion ihres eigenen Universums zu basteln. Abgeschiedenheit dient als Instrument der Selbstbestimmung und des souveränen Umgangs mit den eigenen Ideen und deren Inhalten.
Seit Jahren funktioniert diese unhippe Bandphilosophie und produziert immer wieder wunderbar eigenartige Songs.
Primaboy nennen ihre Musik “Psycho Bump”. Während unzähliger Live-Auftritte im Laufe der Jahre ihres Bestehens hat die Band eine Qualität ihrer Teamarbeit entwickelt, die ihre Auftritte zu Reisen in ungewisse Tiefen der Freude und des Schreckens für ihr Publikum macht.
