Xerox Exotique #042: Ippio Payo – Evamuss – 27.03.2019

Ippio Payo (Echokammer) ist das Alter Ego von Josip Pavlov – Musiker und Komponist aus dem Lebens- und Arbeitsumfeld München. Prägendes Mitglied diverser Bands – Majmoon, Das Weiße Pferd, The Grexits, Zwinkelman, NAQ.
‘Ippio Payo –  All Depends On Nature’ ist Josips erstes Solorelease.

Evamuss (Peru) is a project of the Peruvian Chrs Galarreta (aka: Sajjra, DiosMeHaViolado, Tica, among others alias). This project was very active in the underground peruvian scene between 1997-2003. Evamuss had 9 solo albums published on very limited editions, also appears in a lot of collaborations and compilations of that period. At the beginning Evamuss used home made amps, oscillators, pedal effects and toy keyboards , last period it included the misuse of computer and the pirate software. Error and non-functionality were welcome in its process. On November 2017, Evamuss resurrects with a pair of self-hacked synth toys, some effects, hand made sequencers furbished in collaboration with some hackers in Paruro (the legendary electronic black market’s in Lima City). In the current days its sounds mutated towards a warm and humid metalic jungle based in the use of electromagnetic sounds, bended electronics and organic trance’s sequences. Its recent assaults included tours between Portugal, Spain, Lithuania, Russia, The Netherlands, Germany and a publication of a release in Favela Discos (Porto).

Xerox Exotique #041: Kybernaughty – Noise Cinematique – Educator – 09.12.2018

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE START EARLIER THAN USUAL THIS TIME – DOORS OPEN AT 19:00, CONCERTS START AT 20:00.

Two decades after The Stalker 33rpm Kybernaughty happily presents his new record: Ikarie 33rpm – back in vinyl!
It is the terminus of an unexpected journey, bowing to idols while steering its own course. It is also a Janus-faced creation: digitally pulsating metamorphosis confronts analog melting melodies.
A – side is a pumping piston, always on the move, beating, hammering, sculpting sound. B – side veils its sonic nihilism in enticing melodies and unpretentious plastic rhythms. Learn to love the synth tom. Succulent Moog basses pierced by the binary harshness of FM synthesis. Synth legends of the neon age in strange encounters with software synthesis, eurorack modules and the humble four-string. Straight from the O-coast, dual oscillators hover like angry helicopters around the confines of well-tempered harmony – Ikarie invites you to plunge deep.
Like the eponymous Czech masterpiece, Ikarie is about change, challenge and reckoning. The artwork by W. Mages beautifully captures the facetious, multilayered and ultimately singular experience of a twenty years’ journey in electronic music.

The record will be available directly from the artist at the concert.

Xerox Exotique #039: GRAT (Kai Niggemann & Henning Pertiet) – 16.04.2019

Xerox Exotique #038: Alarmen – Torn From Beyond – 18.05.2019

Alarmen offers mellow, but still slightly distorted electronica: Lightweighted glitch-sounds meet likeminded cautios rhythms, dark ambient meets IDM. The one man project from Thuringia/Germany was founded in 2000 and is active in public since 2001. The project collaborated with Betriebsdruck, Sphercial Disrupted, Kaos Interim, Stimulus Response on releases as well as on stage. The musical output includes several releases on CD, CDr and as netreleases plus several contributions to compilations. On stage Alarmen was present at different festivals, including Maschinenfest, Elektroanschlag and Schachtfrequenz and other concerts in Germany. Behind the DJ decks Carsten Stiller is using is real name and is playing (dark) ambient, IDM, electronica and similar experimental sounds at events like the Maschinenfest or the Ambient Area of the Forms of Hands festival. The self built home of Alarmen is audiophob, which Carsten founded together with Mirko (Spherical Disrupted) in 2004.

Torn From Beyond
“If you’ve never heard of Torn From Beyond, then maybe you’ve heard of Bert Lehmann’s other project, Mortaja, which has had a couple of releases since 2011 on the Audiophob label. I’ve never heard of either before but no matter; it’s what’s now that counts. Like Mortaja, Torn From Beyond is dark ambient, although a little different from Mortaja from what I understand. The music on ‘If The View Freezes’ sounds simultaneously spacey and deep underground, as in chasms and crypts. Here the dead feed off the living, and visa-versa. Here the Elder Gods rub shoulders (or should I say, tentacles) with Dream Daemons in the nightmares of your deep subconscious.” (Steve Mecca / Chain D.L.K.)

Xerox Exotique #036: Kollaps – The Brown Toners – 19.11.2018

Since 2015’s debut EP Heartworm, Melbourne industrialists Kollaps have refined their restless brand of harsh, post-industrial noise. Recruiting doom/noise veteran Damian Coward [Heirs, High Tension] to bass/percussion/production in 2016, Wade Black (vocals) and Robin W. Marsh (drums, programming) offer up SIBLING LOVERS, an LP that intensifies the conflict between the twin energies of confusion and control at the core of Kollaps’ sound.

The band’s distinctive jarring textures and crude tones are created using re-appropriated waste materials like scrap metal, raw plastics and steel beams. For the band, this isn’t an empty gesture to the industrial genre, it’s a way to literally use the detritus of postmodern society against itself. The band also subvert convention by bypassing the desk and running their vocals directly through amplifiers, thereby injecting a hint of their live intensity into the recording. The overall effect is again of contrast- the band’s raw, provocative voice is amplified by the record’s subtly confident production.

Conceptually, Sibling Lovers follows Heartworm’s exploration of a societal sickness that manifests itself in the debasement of the individual soul. For lyricist Wade Black, Sibling Lovers is introspective and confessional; images of actual physical sicknesses (cancer, colostomy bags, heart worms) are used to make sense a malignant world of slaughterhouses, incest and alcoholism.

But it’s their intensity as performers, rather than their gruesome lyrical content that has built Kollaps a reputation for ferocious live shows and violent performances. Steadily drawing raucous crowds around Australia, alongside some of the best local and intentional underground performers [Brighter Death Now, Trepaneringsritualen, Armour Group, Operant, Blixa Bargeld, Youth Code & Pharmakon].
